Benefits of setting up at Prestwick

Access to talent

Ayrshire is a vibrant hub for new talent and is keeping pace with industry. The Aeronautical Engineering Training Centre is located on Ayrshire College’s Ayr Campus and works closely with industry leaders. Graduates leave with the knowledge and skills businesses are looking for, such as experience working with composite materials and industry-standard visual software.

Scotland’s world-class universities are also on your doorstep, not only providing an unrivalled talent pool of world-ready students but making it easy to tap into the latest ground-breaking research and technology from globally renowned researchers and engineers.

Public sector support

Significant public sector investment is helping to unlock the enormous potential for Ayrshire to become one of Europe’s leading centres of aerospace and space activity. It’s an area with big ambitions and plans to develop a fairer, more sustainable economy centred on people and communities.

We're investing in more high-quality commercial space which will meet low carbon and 'Factory of the Future' standards. It will withstand diversification and evolution in Scotland’s rapidly growing space cluster, as well contribute to our net zero ambitions.

Connected to Scotland and the rest of the world

Prestwick is a location strategically connected to both local and global markets, with direct connectivity by air, rail, road and sea.  Glasgow Prestwick Airport can handle aircraft of all sizes and large-scale cargo. The region’s seaports handle over 500,000 tonnes of cargo annually with state-of-the-art warehouse and storage facilities and easy access to both rail networks and trunk roads, ensuring smooth movement of goods to the rest of the UK and beyond.
